There has been a lot of fear stories on both sides of the EU referendum debate so far. The positive things you don’t hear as a result is that the EU supports many policies that help working people.
For example four weeks paid holiday entitlement, the right to maternity leave, protections on how many hours we work, improved rights for agency workers and the wider benefits to our economy.
All things that the EU helps protect and all things the Tories and UKIP want to tear up.
That is why Labour is campaigning to remain in but reform the EU.
Younger people rightly see the EU positively as a land of opportunities. This new jet set generation enjoy working, travelling and studying in Europe. It is for them who we need to fight to make sure we remain in the EU.

John will be speaking in Leeds on 31 May, along with Yanis Varoufakis, and Labour’s Pat Glass.
