On Theresa May’s watch, police numbers have been cut by 20,000. Cuts to the police force endanger communities and endanger police officers too. Labour’s approach to policing crime will be different. Here in Leeds Labour will protect the numbers of Police Community Support Officers.
Leeds Labour works with West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Burns- Williamson on strategies to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour.
We want to work to eliminate institutional biases against BAME communities, that mean you are still far more likely to be stopped and searched as a black or Asian man.
Here in Leeds we’ve already funded 150 Police Community Support Officers. On top of that we will ensure that the number of PCSOs in Leeds will continue to remain the same. We’ll protect community policing to protect our communities.
