It’s National Composting Week – 5-11 May!
We tell you something new every day.
But composting is serious business – as Leeds Council has acknowledged.
They’ve made a series of short Youtube films on composting.
The first are now available.
And Headingley Station allotment holders are stars of the show.
Composting makes real Green sense.
Not only will you get better fruit and veg and flowers – you’ll be doing that extra bit to save the planet by cutting down on waste.
As Councillor Mark Dobson says:
“Composting isn’t just for those who want to grow award winning fruit and veg. Anyone with outside space can have a go and use the compost as a soil conditioner to really make plants bloom.
“It’s an ideal way to help cut the amount of waste we send to landfill alongside the services we provide to help people reduce, re-use and recycle.”
There’s lots of tips on composting on the Council’s website – http://www.leeds.gov.uk/residents/Pages/Composting.aspx
There are special offers on compost bins there – and you can order a compost bin from the Council here – http://www.leeds.getcomposting.com/ – or by calling 0844 571 4444.
More information about composting and the buy one, get one half price offer on composters, can be found at http://www.leeds.gov.uk/compost
So Go Green – and get better gardens in the process. Win, win.
