The Council has set up the Leeds Landlord Accreditation Scheme
Landlords are encouraged to join, but they have to meet a set of standards in order to do so. The Council will help landlords achieve those standards, with information on e.g. property management. It will also provide quick and effective resolution of disputes between landlords and tenants.
The standards involve questions like contracts, bonds, repairs and maintenance and security.
Councillor Peter Gruen, Leeds City Council executive board member with responsibility for neighbourhoods and housing said:
“The private rented sector continues to grow in Leeds and we are keen to work with this sector to increase the supply, but most importantly the quality of housing available across the city.’
There are 35,000 bedrooms already accredited under the scheme, including many suitable for students.
Labour councils make a difference – for everyone.
